GREEN BAY, Wis. (WBAY) - Two Pulaski High School marching band alumni are bringing their college marching bands back to northeast Wisconsin this weekend.
Faith Nowakowski and Riley Mommaerts marched together for years in the same section of the Pulaski High School marching band. This weekend, they will be on opposite sides of the field for the Shamrock Series matchup.
Nowakowski now marches with the Notre Dame marching band. Mommaerts marches with the UW-Madison marching band.
### Former bandmates now rivals
“It’s kind of interesting and kind of weird, because, I was always used to, like, playing with him in the band, like, in the same band,” Nowakowski said. “So now it’s going to be different. So, I don’t know, like, no hard feelings. I’m going to root for my team. You’re going to root for yours.”
“I don’t know, it’s kind of cool,” Mommaerts said. “Hope, you know, my side wins, but, you know.”
### Excited for Lambeau Field
The college freshmen say they are excited to take the field at a location as historic as Lambeau Field, with friends, family and thousands of fans there to see.
“The moment I’m looking forward to the most is coming out of the tunnel onto the field,” Mommaerts said. “That’s always very hype and very exciting.”
“I’m just so excited, honestly, because I’m telling everyone in my baritone section that like, hey, I live here, I could be your tour guide,” Nowakowski said. “And like the stadium’s huge, you’ll have to see it. It’s just amazing.”
No matter who wins this weekend, both families plan to enjoy the day side by side, embracing their local ties to both historic franchises.
