LSU Receives Warning From Clemson On Playing NFL Players
In the debate over whether Louisiana State University will use former NFL players in Saturday’s regular-season opener, LSU’s opponent has spoken out.
Clemson informed their opponent they may be in breach of its game contract if it plays former professional players on Saturday, according to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports.
Nevertheless, Clemson says it intends to play the game – and is not seeking financial compensation.
Several athletes are eligible for college football again after spending time in the NFL this preseason, although LSU hasn’t yet announced whether it will start such prospects on Saturday.
All SEC football programs must finalize their rosters by midnight Eastern time on Saturday morning. Lane Kiffin and his LSU staff will owe a formal decision on whether or not those former pros will really be added to the Tigers’ official roster.

Despite a judge’s ruling allowing former NFL prospects to suit up for college football teams, Clemson head coach Dabo Swinney didn’t mince words in criticizing it:
“It’s kind of embarrassing. Honestly, it’s embarrassing that’s where we are. I don’t blame the kids, but people trying to take advantage of the system. It’s embarrassing, but we’ve been here for a while,” he said.
