Aaron Rodgers plans to retire after the 2026 NFL season and focus on starting a family
He credits his wife, Brittani, for helping him reconnect with his estranged family after years of separation
Rodgers looks forward to a quieter life, healing his body, and embracing fatherhood in his next chapter
The 2026 NFL season may be starting soon, but Aaron Rodgers is already thinking about what he’ll do after it’s over.
The longtime quarterback, 42, announced in May that he would retire at the end of the 2026 season after finishing up his career with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
In a preview of an interview with Adam Schein on Mad Dog Sports Radio, shared on Friday, Sept. 4, Rodgers talked about what he hopes his life will look like after the NFL.
Although Schein said that he hoped Rodgers’ future would involve football in some capacity, the NFL star said he has his mind on growing his family.
“I’m hopefully going to be supporting my pregnant wife because we’re going to start a family and I am not going to be making a lot of appearances or statements,” said Rodgers.
“And I’m looking forward to a life of quiet after 22 years in the pros and three in college and getting my body healed up and working on a family,” he continued. “That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
Rodgers first went public with his relationship in December 2024, revealing he was dating a woman named Brittani. By June 2025, he confirmed that the two had secretly married “a couple months” earlier.

Since the news of their marriage broke, Rodgers has credited his wife for encouraging him to reunite with his parents his parents, Darla and Ed Rodgers, and his older brother, Luke Rodgers, from whom he was formerly estranged.
“I’m definitely excited about it,” said Rodgers. “I mean, being back in my family’s lives, and I’m having a lot of fun being Uncle Aaron.”
“I mean, I have a few godkids that I’m involved with, but being Uncle Aaron to my brother’s kids has been a lot of fun. And the more I’m around them, the more I get excited, and so does the wife about having some of our own, so yeah, I’m excited for that,” he continued.
“I can’t wait for that next chapter of life and all that entails, and sleepless nights, and crying babies, and changing diapers, and all those things,” said Rodgers. “I’m looking forward to all of it.”
