**Four points from two Premier League games and unbeaten in all competitions. For all the noise surrounding Deadline Day, Everton have started the season pretty well.**
Manchester United’s visit to the Hill Dickinson tomorrow provides another test and a useful early point at which to take stock.
So what would represent a good start after three league games?
For [Everton](https://readeverton.com/), five points would surely qualify. Seven would make the opening look considerably better than that.
A draw tomorrow would leave David Moyes’ side unbeaten with five points from games against Crystal Palace, Bournemouth and Manchester United.
That’s a perfectly respectable return.
Palace were beaten 2-0 at the Hill Dickinson before Everton earned a 1-1 draw at Bournemouth. Throw in the 4-0 Carabao Cup victory at Preston and Moyes’ side are yet to lose a competitive game this season.
Seven points, though, would change the feel of the start. Beat United and Everton would have taken seven from nine while winning their opening two home league games.
Given everything that has happened around the club over the past week, that would be some response from Moyes and his players. There is also the fixture list to consider.
After a Carabao Cup tie against Wolves, Everton travel to Tottenham in their next Premier League game before returning to the Hill Dickinson to face Ipswich. Hull, Chelsea and Arsenal then follow.
Putting another three points on the board tomorrow would give Moyes a useful platform before that run develops.
A defeat shouldn’t suddenly turn an encouraging opening into a poor one either. Four points from Palace, Bournemouth and United would hardly represent a bad start. But there is an opportunity here.
Five points would be good. Seven would be excellent.
And after a week spent discussing the players Everton don’t have, beating Manchester United would be a timely reminder that the players Moyes does have have made a pretty decent start.
