Tosin Adarabioyo joins Tottenham in£7m Chelsea deal

Chelsea

Tosin Adarabioyo has a new club. The Chelsea defender has now joined Tottenham in a £7M permanent transfer deal, adding fresh experience to the Spurs defence, as per the latest news. The move also ends his short spell at Stamford Bridge.

Tosin Adarabioyo completes Tottenham move

Tosin Adarabioyo has completed a permanent move from Chelsea to Tottenham Hotspur. The 28-year-old centre-back agreed the switch just before the summer window closed. As reported by Chelsea’s official website, Adarabioyo spent two seasons at Stamford Bridge after joining from Fulham in July 2024. He also helped the side win both the UEFA Conference League and the FIFA Club World Cup during his time there.

Spurs will pay an initial £7M for the defender. More money can follow through performance based add-ons. The deal came soon after Kevin Danso left the North London side, making Tosin a clear addition to the defensive group. The move also has an unusual part to it. The London side first looked at signing Tosin on loan. But Premier League rules on loans between clubs made that route hard. A permanent deal was then agreed instead.

Tosin Adarabioyo’s stats for Chelsea in the 2025/26 season, as per FOTMOB:

Competitions Matches Defensive Contributions Interceptions Duels Won

Premier League 16 97 9 58

EFL Cup 3 21 3 13

FA Cup 5 49 4 27

Champions League 5 20 4 10

A new chance for Tosin Adarabioyo under De Zerbi

Tosin now gets a fresh start under Roberto De Zerbi. The defender believes the manager’s style can suit him. Tosin became Tottenham’s 10th signing of the summer after the club also brought in Chelsea winger Mykhailo Mudryk on loan. The two moves were completed at the end of a huge window for Spurs, who spent close to £400M on new players.

The centre-back should add depth and calm at the back. He stands 6ft 5in and is strong in the air. He can also pass from deep, which fits a team that wants to build play from defence. Regular starts were not easy to find at Chelsea last season. His move to Spurs could now give him a bigger role as the season moves on.

Spurs add experience to defence

Tottenham reached an agreement with Chelsea for Tosin before the deadline, with personal terms also settled. He was then allowed to complete his medical before the move was made official. Tosin has played in the Premier League for Fulham and Chelsea and now has another chance in London. It is also a rare direct move between the two clubs.

The transfer follows a long gap since a senior player moved from Chelsea to Spurs. That adds another small piece of history to an already busy deadline day. For Chelsea, the move clears another squad place. For Tottenham, the experienced centre-back is joining with years of top level football behind him at a modest starting cost.

Author’s Opinion

Tosin looks like a sensible signing for Spurs. The fee is not huge, and he brings Premier League experience at a time when the defence needs more depth. A steady run of games could help him become a useful part of De Zerbi’s team.
