LSU coach Lane Kiffin said Saturday in his appearance on ESPN’s “College GameDay” that “it wasn’t easy” to come to a decision Friday on the roster status of the two ex-NFL players who are now eligibile to play for the Tigers.
Kiffin and his staff chose not to add tight end Dae’Quan Wright and defensive tackle Zxavian Harris to their roster prior to Saturday’s season opener vs. Clemson (6:30 p.m., ABC). But they did decide to leave two of the 105 spots open — to make sure that they could potentially add both players to the team later in the season.
“I feel for the players,” Kiffin said, “and I believe that you fight for what you believe in, and I believe these kids have the opportunity to play, just like all the other kids around the country that are winning court cases and being put on rosters.
