Chelsea
Arsenal and Manchester City are expected to compete for Chelsea winger Pedro Neto in the January transfer window. Both clubs are monitoring the Portugal international, although reports differ over how much Chelsea would demand for his signature, as per latest transfer news.
Arsenal and City monitor Pedro Neto
Neto attracted interest from several clubs during the summer, including Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Al-Hilal. Liverpool considered the 26-year-old while looking for a new right winger after Mohamed Salah’s departure. Manchester City also remain interested, with manager Enzo Maresca understood to be an admirer of Neto.
As reported by TEAMTALK, Arsenal, City and Al-Hilal are among the clubs most interested in the winger. Several clubs have also made inquiries through his representatives in recent weeks. The interested sides are expected to stay in contact with Neto’s team before deciding whether to approach Chelsea in January.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta wants a proven Premier League attacker who can play on either wing. This would give him more options and reduce the workload on Bukayo Saka, Noni Madueke and Christos Tzolis. City are also looking for more width in attack. Neto’s pace, strength and ability in one-on-one situations make him an attractive option for Maresca’s side.
Chelsea set high Neto asking price
There is uncertainty over how much Chelsea would want to sell Neto for. Chelsea could value the winger at around €70-80m, which is approximately £60-69m. However, other sources indicate that the Blues could demand a much higher fee of around £100m.
Chelsea are not looking to sell Neto and see him as an important player. The club could still listen to big offers. Neto also did not push to leave in the summer. He is reportedly happy at Stamford Bridge and wants to become a key player under Xabi Alonso.
The Portuguese international is now playing as a right wing-back under Alonso. He recently scored in Chelsea’s 4-3 win over Brighton. As reported by CaughtOffside, Chelsea see Neto as an asset but remain open to good offers.
Neto’s versatility is another reason for the interest. He can play on either side and is known for his dribbling and pace. He can also create chances from wide areas. His time in English football means he knows the physical demands of the Premier League.

Neto could make major Chelsea exit in January
It remains to be seen whether an offer from Arsenal or Manchester City could convince Neto to stay. Chelsea have shown they will sell key players when a big enough bid arrives. Their recent transfer activity has also shown they will consider strong offers for their squad members.
For Arsenal, a move for Neto would continue their transfer link with Chelsea. Kai Havertz, Noni Madueke, Raheem Sterling and Kepa Arrizabalaga have all moved between the two London clubs in recent years. However, Arsenal must decide if Neto is the right addition given their options on the wings. Bukayo Saka and Madueke can play on the right. A left winger could therefore be a bigger priority for Arteta.
For Manchester City, Neto’s ability to play on both wings could make him a useful addition. His pace in transition could also suit their style. The January window could bring another battle between Arsenal and City for the Portuguese winger. Neto’s next move will depend on the offers he receives and Chelsea’s decision on his future.
