Entering the 2026 season, the San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills are projected to agree to a trade involving wide receiver Keon Coleman in the latest NFL rumors. Bleacher Report’s Kristopher Knox said the 49ers are already entering the upcoming campaign with wide receiver issues. While the team brought back veteran pass-catcher Deebo Samuel and signed former Tampa Buccaneers veteran Mike Evans, they placed newly signed Christian Kirk on injured reserve while losing Ricky Pearsall to a season-ending injury. It’s a complete mess in the 49ers’ receiving unit, but Knox suggests this opens up an opportunity for the Bills wideout:

“The Niners will rely heavily on veteran wideouts and rookie De’Zhaun Stribling, and they could afford to add some extra depth to their receiver room. Buffalo Bills receiver Keon Coleman, meanwhile, could use a fresh start,” Knox said.

He also stated that while new Buffalo head coach Joe Brady still believes in the former second-round pick, if struggles continue, the Bills could be forced to trade him. Last year, the wide receiver finished with 38 receptions for 404 receiving yards and 4 touchdowns across 13 games. In 2024, he also produced similar numbers, and now, entering his third league season, a fresh start could indeed be the best route.

NFL Rumors: 49ers, Bills Connected in Massive $10M Trade

Trade Value Revealed

Earlier this offseason, Bills owner Terry Pegula admitted it wasn’t his idea to draft the former 2024 draft selection. It rubbed the wideout the wrong way, but somehow he remained in Buffalo despite receiving trade interest this offseason.

While Knox said the Bills could receive a conditional 2027 fifth-rounder for the wideout, the 49ers are likely to offer a fourth-round pick to get him immediately if they want. However, Buffalo is expected to keep him, and perhaps he could increase his trade value throughout the campaign and may demand a trade if he isn’t getting many opportunities behind the newly traded DJ Moore and Khalil Shakir.

Other teams, including the 49ers, will keep an eye on the wideout. Five other suitors could be willing to take a shot on the untapped pass-catcher.
