Jobity Attends High School Game
Pittsburgh Steelers’ rookie defensive lineman Kevin Jobity Jr. served as a special guest for Friday night’s high school game between McKeesport and Montour. Jobity handled the coin toss and shared the field with each team’s captains before kickoff.
An undrafted rookie out of Syracuse, Jobity was a surprise addition to the Steelers’ 53-man roster but surged late in the preseason to cement his spot.
Montour defeated McKeesport 28-17. Despite having star RB Kemon Spell, a Georgia commit who rushed for 200 yards and had a 69-yard touchdown reception, Montour contained him in the second half and stormed back after trailing at the half. Quarterback/defensive back Brandon Bennett rushed for two touchdowns and intercepted three passes.
Steelers Scout Top WR Prospect
The Steelers were in attendance to watch what could go down as college football’s biggest upset of the season. Per Ryan Dunleavy, the Steelers had at least one scout on hand for Thursday night’s UMass/Rutgers game. Scarlet Knights WR KJ Duff was one of the top prospects in the game, but his three-touchdown showing couldn’t prevent UMass from pulling off a major upset, 37-21 over Rutgers.

Rutgers also has one of the nation’s top running backs in Antwan Raymond, who rushed for over 1,200 yards a year ago. He was bottled up for just 42 yards on 14 carries in the game. UMass broke a 16-game losing streak and notched its first FBS win since 2023.
Roethlisberger At Miami (OH)
Redhawk alum Ben Roethlisberger was in attendance for Saturday’s game between Miami (OH) and the Pitt Panthers at Acrisure Stadium. Miami’s Instagram account shared a collection of photos of Roethlisberger taking the field and catching up with head coach Chuck Martin.
Roethlisberger threw for nearly 11,000 yards and 84 touchdowns during his career. In 2003, he led the MAC in all major passing categories to finish ninth in Heisman voting. He remains the program’s all-time leading in passing touchdowns and ranks second in yards after Zac Dysert surpassed him in 2012.
Saturday, Pitt defeated Miami (OH) 59-14.
Bleier On Concussions
Rocky Bleier was one of several former NFL players interviewed for a recent Sports Illustrated article detailing concussions and CTE. An important topic back in the news after a recent study showed the majority of former players examined experienced some level of CTE as a result of repeated head injuries.
Bleier admitted that during his playing days, concussions were treated like any other injury.
“Concussions could be a part of the game, like a broken leg could be a part of the game, or a broken arm, or an injury that would allow you not to continue to play,” Bleier said to Matt Verderame. “You’re at a young age, and ultimately, it doesn’t really affect a player until later.”
Bleier’s previously said he never suffered a concussion during his career. But teammate C Mike Webster became known as the first diagnosed case of CTE after his death in 2002. More awareness and better technology have been positive steps, but the NFL has more to do to take care of its players beyond their playing days.
