After an early wobble Manchester United got back on track last Sunday with a thumping 5-2 victory over Ipswich Town. Everton stand in their way this afternoon and, after a dismal deadline day on Merseyside, United will be sensing an opportunity to turn the home fans against their team.

Senne Lammens enjoyed a man of the match performance on his first trip to the Hill Dickinson Stadium, and he will be hoping to repeat that today. In front of him, the defence mostly picks itself. Lisandro Martinez was superb against Ipswich and he has formed a good partnership with Harry Maguire.

Diogo Dalot will likely edge out Noussair Mazraoui again at right-back with Luke Shaw on the left. On Friday, Michael Carrick toyed with the idea of playing Patrick Dorgu at left-back, a role he previously played at Lecce, but his long-term future still looks to be on the wing.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo was brilliant in the centre last week. Carrick has brought the 21-year-old on leaps and bounds and he is now one of the first names on the teamsheet. Alongside him will likely be Youri Tielemans. Bruno Fernandes will obviously start. He turns 32 on Tuesday, but there is no sign of him losing any of his quality.

The attack will be a trickier selection call for Carrick. The United boss stressed on Friday that they will need to be 'patient' with Benjamin Sesko as he inches back towards full fitness.

That likely means another start for Matheus Cunha. We did not receive an update on Amad's fitness so it is assumed he will be absent again. This means Bryan Mbeumo will not be able to move into the centre-forward role. Cunha did better against Ipswich, but you still feel United will be stronger when Sesko is back.

United's predicted XI vs Everton: Lammens; Dalot, Maguire, Martinez, Shaw; Tielemans, Mainoo; Mbeumo, Fernandes, Rashford; Cunha
