Manchester United will aim to secure a second successive win when they lock horns with Everton at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday afternoon. Michael Carrick has several pressing issues to worry about ahead of his side’s latest fixture.
Manuel Ugarte remains a long-term absentee due to a knee injury. The Uruguayan international accompanies Tom Heaton (knock), Matthijs de Ligt (lower back), Carlos Baleba (ankle), and Amad Diallo (muscular) on the sidelines, though de Ligt and Baleba should return before the international break.
However, Luke Shaw (hamstring) and Mason Mount (foot) should be fit and available to take on Everton. Meanwhile, during his pre-match press conference, Carrick focused on providing an update on Benjamin Sesko, who has been rebuilding his fitness in the early days of the 2026/27 season.

He had some time off, which was important – that we give him the time, to make sure he was right moving forward, with no setbacks. You can never guarantee that, but it gives Ben the chance to stay fit for as long as possible.”
“He made big strides last season and he’s still young and still adapting and learning and developing here. There’s loads more to come from Ben, so it’s just being patient with him really. I’m really happy with how he’s come back, so looking forward to seeing him on the pitch a little bit more.”
Senne Lammens is an automatic pick between the sticks, with Manchester United lining up in a 4-2-3-1 formation in front of him against Everton on Sunday. The backline will feature Diogo Dalot, Harry Maguire, Lisandro Martinez, and Luke Shaw.
As for the midfield unit, there is no looking past Kobbie Mainoo and Youri Tielemans, with Andrey Santos missing out again. Bruno Fernandes will reprise the no. 10 role, pulling the strings from the advanced areas.
