Former Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell was not going to let one Fulham supporter taunt him and get away with it following Crystal Palace’s 3-2 win at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Chilwell rejoined Palace from Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg after a loan spell at Selhurst Park in 2025 and has made an instant impact.

The left-back scored the winning goal for his new side in Saturday’s London derby, and as he left the pitch, one Fulham fan shouted “Chelsea reject” at him. In response, Chilwell told the supporter to “take that L”, as shared by Palace’s official TikTok account.

There is nothing wrong with footballers giving it back to rival supporters after all the abuse they get during games. We absolutely love the response from Chilwell, who was a terrific wing-back for Chelsea when he was fit.

A year after leaving Stamford Bridge, and Chelsea are using wing-backs again under Xabi Alonso.

In the Blues’ epic 4-3 victory over Brighton & Hove Albion last Sunday, Jorrel Hato started on the left, while goalscorer Pedro Neto played in the right wing-back position.

Both men will now be hoping to keep their places in the team when Chelsea take on Arsenal at the Emirates this Sunday. It will see at least one of the London giants lose their 100% record after perfect starts to the season.
