Everton hosts Manchester United at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Sunday, with both sides hoping to improve this season compared to the last one.
David Moyes' side was hoping to kick on but got worse, on paper at least, during the summer transfer window. Manchester United, meanwhile, added some exciting talent to its roster, but must cope with playing many more games this season after not being in Europe at all in 2025/26.
So far, Everton has beaten Crystal Palace and drawn with Bournemouth. Manchester United has lost at Hull and then bounced back with a 5-2 victory over Ipswich.

In the UK, the game will be shown live on Sky Sports and can be streamed via its online services. In the US, it will be screened by NBC Sports.
Manchester United could be without Amad Diallo, while Matthijs de Ligt and Carlos Baleba are expected to be out.
Luke Shaw and Mason Mount are doubts and Manuel Ugarte has a long-term knee injury, but Michael Carrick still has a strong roster to select from and his side looked good in the second half against Ipswich last weekend.

Everton only has Christian Norgaard out injured at the moment, but it left itself very short in the summer transfer window. Its last-minute move for Monaco's Folarin Balogun fell through and it had already sold Beto to Fiorentina.
"We are looking at the free agents market," Moyes confirmed in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
"I am trying to get a team that is going to be at the top end and challenge. I want the players to believe that we are moving forward — for me, that is really important.
"We have a small squad now, but sometimes it gives people opportunities who have haven't had them. Let's see if some of them can do that. I am sure we will be fully at it.

"It wasn't anyone's fault. It happens in football a lot that the player has a problem with their medical. That was it. There are no other stories behind it.
"We lost Ili [Ndiaye] — someone we definitely didn't want to lose. But it is difficult when the likes of Manchester City come looking for your players. Ultimately, we didn't want to lose a lot of the players, but that had to happen.
"I think the players have made a really good start to the season with a couple of good wins and a draw.
"Behind here, there is a lot of positivity and confidence in how we have started the season. I need to make sure I keep giving them all the support that they need, so we can keep that going."
