Transfer targets: Eli Junior Kroupi, Julian Alvarez and Lewis Hall
Transfer news LIVE!
Premier League clubs continue to work behind the scenes despite the summer transfer window closing earlier this week. Following a record-breaking spending spree involving Arsenal, Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool and Tottenham, attention is already turning towards January. Arsenal had a relatively quiet Deadline Day, with a move for Julian Alvarez remaining out of reach, but the club is expected to be active when the winter window opens.
Chelsea experienced one of the most dramatic Deadline Day finales, selling Enzo Fernandez to Manchester City for a British-record-equalling £125 million, but failing to sign a replacement with Monaco pulling out of an agreement to sell Lamine Camara. Chelsea have now reportedly identified Atletico Madrid midfielder Pablo Barrios as a potential January target, with the Spanish club potentially demanding around €100 million.
Tottenham also completed late deals for Mykhailo Mudryk and Tosin Adarabioyo and want to ship out Richarlison, but are running out of options after a move to Turkey failed to materialise. The Saudi Arabia window remains open to give Spurs, and the striker, another option.

Liverpool sporting director departs as succession plan confirmed
Richard Hughes has stepped down from his role as Liverpool’s sporting director, the club confirmed yesterday, with the hunt for a successor already underway.
The Scot joined Liverpool from Bournemouth in June 2024, and has overseen the spending of some £670m in the transfer market.
His two-year tenure was one defined by dizzying highs and ignominious lows. It was his call to appoint Arne Slot, who won the Premier League in his debut campaign, before later being forced to relieve him of his duties after a dismal title defence.
Hughes is widely expected to join the Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Hilal after extricating himself from Anfield.
“I would like to reiterate what I said upon my arrival – it has been a source of great pride to have been given the opportunity to serve this incredible and unique institution,” said Hughes, via a club statement.
Man Utd still is talks for Louis Page
Manchester United reportedly remain in talks to sign Louis Page after their move for the Leicester youngster fell through on Deadline Day.
The 18-year-old midfielder emerged as a surprise target for United hours before the summer transfer window slammed shut on Tuesday night, but the two clubs could not reach an agreement on terms of sale. Page then played 90 minutes of the Foxes’ 2-0 defeat of Plymouth Argyle the same night, assisting the opener.
It had seemed United were prepared to move on, but new reports claim the two clubs remain in talks over Page’s transfer.
The Manchester Evening News claims an agreement between the clubs was closer than first thought, but that Leicester had hoped to land a fee higher than the £12.5m package they received when Jeremy Monga joined Manchester City earlier this summer. There was also an expectation Page would have rejoined Leicester on loan this season, had the move gone through.
Arsenal advance contract talks with Mikel Arteta and three key stars
Arsenal are making significant progress on a new contract for Mikel Arteta, with the manager expected to commit his long-term future to the club in the coming weeks.
Accotding to TEAMtalk, the Gunners are also advancing talks over new deals for three important first-team players: Martin Odegaard, Declan Rice and Jurrien Timber. All three remain central to Arteta’s plans as Arsenal look to build on their Premier League title success.
Odegaard is regarded as a key figure at the Emirates and remains Arsenal’s captain, while Rice has established himself as one of the leaders of the midfield. Timber, meanwhile, has developed into an important defensive option since arriving from Ajax.
Arsenal’s priority is to secure the futures of their manager and core players, providing continuity as they target further domestic and European success. The club are now increasingly confident that agreements with Arteta and the three players can be reached.
Manchester United maintain interest in Lewis Hall
Manchester United remain interested in signing Lewis Hall next summer after failing to secure the Newcastle left-back during the recent transfer window.
United identified left-back as a priority under Michael Carrick, but Newcastle were adamant that Hall was not for sale and ultimately Man Utd decided against bringing in a new player in the position.
The club are expected to continue monitoring the 21-year-old throughout the season, with a move in summer 2027 now a possibility. Hall has started the campaign strongly as Matthias Jaissle’s first-choice left-back, which could further increase his value.
United are not currently expected to pursue a new left-back in January, with Patrick Dorgu set to provide cover for Luke Shaw this season. Newcastle, meanwhile, are reportedly considering offering Hall a new contract in an attempt to keep him at St James’ Park.
Newcastle reject Forest bid for star
Football Insider reports that Newcastle rejected two separate offers from Nottingham Forest for Jacob Murphy during the final two days of the transfer window.
The bids were around £12million, but Matthias Jaissle considers the winger a key part of his plans for this season given his defensive diligence and speed on the counter-attack two key qualities the German likes.
Everton missed out on Castellanos
Everton were prepared to pay more than £40million for Taty Castellanos on Deadline Day after moves for Folarin Balogun, Joshua Zirkzee and Tammy Abraham began to collapse, Teamtalk claims.
West Ham were open to accepting the offer but could not find a suitable replacement in the final hours of the window and therefore rejected the conversation.
Bournemouth trio in demand
David Ornstein told TNT Sports that three Bournemouth stars were subjects of heavy transfer interest.

PSG ready Alvarez bid
Paris Saint-Germain are preparing a January move for Atletico Madrid striker Julián Alvarez at Luis Enrique's request, El Nacional reports.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has approved the pursuit, with PSG ready to make a major financial push for the Argentine. Barcelona have also targeted Alvarez, but PSG want to move first and convince both Atletico and the player.
Roma eye Endrick
Corrierre dello Sport reports that Roma have made Endrick a priority for January, with the Real Madrid forward now seriously considering the move.
The 20-year-old has told friends that joining Roma is a very real possibility after talks were postponed in the summer. Roma could pursue a loan deal, while Luiz Henrique also remains on their January shortlist.
Barca monitor Arsenal wonderkid
Football Insider claims that Barcelona and Atlético Madrid are tracking Arsenal's 14-year-old winger Bubacarr Jallow.
The youngster has already trained with Arsenal's Under-18s and Under-21s after impressing club coaches. Arsenal want to fast-track his development as both Spanish giants continue to monitor his situation.
