Former Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes completed his £75million move to Arsenal last month.
Ross Wilson has admitted that selling Bruno Guimaraes was not part of the plan at Newcastle United.
A year ago, the Magpies were derailed by Alexander Isak’s decision to leave. Anthony Gordon and Sandro Tonali also made it clear towards the back end of the campaign that their futures lay away from St James’ Park.
However, Guimaraes dropped the bombshell following the season - threatening another Isak situation. Newcastle held firm on the asking price and eventually let the Brazilian join Arsenal for £75million.

Ross Wilson makes Bruno Guimaraes admission
Speaking to TNT Sports before the Bournemouth draw, Wilson opened up about selling the £250million trio. He said: “Anthony Gordon was always in the plan that he was going to move on. We were delighted for him to get such a prestigious move to Barcelona, that was great.
“I think it was pretty clear most of the second part of last season that Sandro Tonali was going to move on. And for Bruno Guimaraes, I think it's well documented, that wasn't a transfer that we were really comfortable with.
“So there's no point in us saying here today that it was or wasn't. I thought it was something we had to react to, that was the question, because football is all about reacting to different challenges, and that was a new challenge for us, but one hopefully we reacted to as part of our plan.”

‘Clear in our plan’ - Ross Wilson
Wilson also praised Eddie Howe while discussing Newcastle’s “clear plan” in the market. He added: “First and foremost, some big respect to Eddie Howe, our former coach who we changed in the summer. There was some big success here with young players in the past. Livramento and Hall, those two really good examples of that in the past.
“Moving forward, we recognise that we want it to be clear in our plan. We want to execute a clear strategy. There's always good twists and turns along the way as well, things change as you go. But yeah, we want it to be really clear, we went into the summer with a clear plan, which we executed almost to its entirety.
“A couple of things different than we didn't expect along the way, but we definitely want it to be clear in terms of our profile. We agreed in April between the ages of 18 and 24, and that was definitely the plan that we wanted to go forward with.”
