Alexander Isak has enjoyed a solid start to the season since facing the Newcastle United boo boys on the opening day.
Alexander Isak has admitted that his debut season at Liverpool was difficult as he struggled with his fitness.
A turbulent summer in 2025 resulted in the Swede downing tools to force through a controversial £125million transfer. In doing so, Isak - previously worshipped at St James’ Park - burned all bridges with Newcastle United fans.
This inspired an effective hate-watch as Toon supporters gleefully reacted to Isak’s injury-ravaged campaign. He scored just three Premier League goals last season - and suffered a broken leg in December.
Isak began 2025-26 underprepared due to his mercenary manoeuvres on Tyneside. A quick-fire double against Ipswich Town on Friday means he has equalled his top-flight tally from last year.

Speaking post-match, the Newcastle hero-turned-villain conceded his debut year at Anfield was a struggle. He said: "It was not easy. It was a long injury, a difficult season in general. I was thinking, ‘I want to have a good World Cup first and then to start the season well, which
“I feel like I've done (that) now. That season is kind of behind me, but it wasn't easy. We were waiting for the first win. We talked about starting the game good, which we haven't done recently, so it was perfect for us to get two good quick goals.
"With a normal pre-season, I think we are starting to get to the way we want to play. To be offensive and attack the defence. I think we did that. We scored two, and we could have scored more."

Andoni Iraola also toasted Isak after his first Liverpool win as manager. He said: "He's a massive player for us. My demands will probably not be about the goals. I know he is fit and in good shape. He's going to produce the numbers.
"My fight with him will be more about other stuff. How to help the team in other situations - but it is good he has already played two full games, scoring the goals, so I am very happy to have him."
