Liverpool’s Adidas home kit design for next season leaks early

Liverpool’s current season may still only be in its infancy, but next year’s initial chequered home kit design has already leaked.

The Reds have launched all three kits for the current campaign, in what is the second of a 10-year partnership with Adidas.

The work does not stop for the manufacturers, though, as designs for next season are already in motion, with Footy Headlines providing an early leak of the details and initial design for the 2027/28 home kit.

While they caveat that the final design could “differ significantly” from the early prediction, it is expected to feature a “subtle tonal chequered pattern” across the shirt.

Created by kit designer @grhaer9, the early leak shows the kit with white logos and sleeve trims, with the chequers to incorporate a darker shade of red to the base.

It conjures memories of Nike’s 2020/21 third kit, which was black and grey with crimson red detailing, and received a mixed reception.

The home kit has always proven to be one of the more restrained designs, with more creative freedom given to the away and third strips.

But the current plans for next season’s kit show a step toward adding more detail beyond the traditional red, as was similarly the case this time around.

Liverpool would be expected to debut their 2027/28 home kit in the last home game of the season, against Bournemouth on May 30, so long as they were not fighting for the title.

Liverpool could have a different front-of-shirt sponsor on new kit

While the early leak incorporates Standard Chartered as the shirt sponsor, there is no guarantee they will feature on any of the 2027/28 kit offerings.

The British multinational bank have sponsored the club since 2010, but the current agreement runs to the end of 2026/27 and is worth around £50 million a year.

This summer, Liverpool chief commercial officer Ben Latty confirmed talks are underway with Standard Chartered – and shirt-sleeve sponsor Expedia – plus potential new partners.

“In terms of Standard Chartered, I don’t know what will happen at this point. We still have another year, and conversations are ongoing,” Latty told the Athletic.

“Seventeen years is a long time, and it’s a great relationship. We’ll probably find out pretty soon what direction that’s heading.”

No names have been reported yet when it comes to a potential new front-of-shirt sponsor, with Amazon very unlikely despite the recent purchase from the consortium including Jeff Bezos.
