Chelsea had a busy summer transfer window and Xabi Alonso reportedly contacted Kylian Mbappe about another potential deal

Xabi Alonso reportedly spoke with Real Madrid star Kylian Mbappe over a potential Chelsea transfer during the summer window.
The Blues had a busy summer bringing in new faces to add to Alonso’ s squad for his first season as the club’s manager.
Chelsea brought in 13 new signings with Honest Anahor, Valentin Barco, Morgan Rogers, Pep Chavarria, Jordan Henderson, Danny Welbeck, Emi Martinez, Maxence Lacroix, Marco Palestra, Geovany Quenda, Dastan Satpayev, Harrison Bettoni and Alfie Osborne all moving to Stamford Bridge.
One player who was heavily linked with a move to Chelsea during the summer window was Manu Kone, who faced an uncertain future at Roma.
The France international was also linked with the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, but it was Chelsea that seemed the most likely destination if a departure was to happen.
Foot Mercato have reported Alonso contacted Mbappe at Madrid about a potential deal for Kone, with the former Paris Saint-Germain said to have spoken highly about his France international teammate.
Alonso is also said to have contacted Kone himself and was "convinced" that the midfielder was the ideal candidate to move to Chelsea.
It now remains to be seen what the future holds for Kone, who went on to remain at Roma beyond the summer transfer deadline.
Reports had emerged claiming that Roma manager Gian Piero Gasperini had put a stop to Kone signing for Chelsea, but he has since denied that an offer was even made by the Blues.

"Oh no, that's a credit they've unfairly attributed to me," Gasperini told Gazzetta dello Sport earlier this week.
"Until the Lecce match, I hadn't heard anything about Kone; after that, there wouldn't have been time for negotiations. And anyway, we never received an official offer."
Chelsea were heavily linked with signing a new midfielder before the transfer window closed, particularly after the departure of Enzo Fernandez, who left the Blues to complete a £125million move to Manchester City.
Monaco star Lamine Camara was a target for Chelsea on deadline day, but a deal to sign the midfielder fell through at the eleventh hour.
