Raphinha on verge of historic Barcelona scoring feat

FC Barcelona significantly strengthened their team coming into this 2026-27 season by bringing in seven new players, but at the start of their La Liga campaign, there were still some doubts about the attacking line, which had lost important players like Robert Lewandowski and Ferran Torres without replacing them.

In such a context, Hansi Flick decided to field Raphinha in the center of his attacking line, and this decision has paid great dividends for the Catalans, as the Brazilian has scored five goals in three games so far.

He scored two goals in the opening game of the season against Elche, then scored again in the second game against Athletic Club, and [another two goals in the third game against Rayo Vallecano](https://barcanewsnetwork.com/yamal-9-5-raphinha-9-5-fc-barcelona-5-2-rayo-vallecano-player-ratings/).

With this scoring run, [Mundo Deportivo](https://www.mundodeportivo.com/futbol/fc-barcelona/20260906/1004223615/raphinha-propone-leyenda-record.html) notes that Raphinha can equal a record that very few players, only three, have achieved so far, i.e., scoring in each of the first four games of a league campaign, if he gets on the scoresheet in the game against Valencia.

The three players who have already achieved this record include Kubala (1953-54 season), Cayetano Re (1964-65 season), and Cesc Fabregas (2011-12 season). Furthermore, there have been two more players who took their scoring streak to five matches at the start of a season, namely, Cesar Rodriguez (1950-51) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (2009-10). The Swede was the first league debutant to achieve this record.

Furthermore, if he scores, he will become only the second player after Lionel Messi to score in four consecutive official games this century.

For now, it remains to be seen whether Raphinha will be able to score against Valencia and thus make this very unique record. But even if he is not able to do so, he has already written his story in glittering letters in Barcelona history, and hopefully, he will break and create several more records this season.
