Marcus Rashford has been singled out by BBC Sport’s Simon Stone for ‘causing Everton massive problems’ in the first half.
While the clash remains goalless, the returning Red has been a bright spark for Manchester United thus far.
Marcus Rashford deployed from the off vs Toffees
He has made his second successive start for his boyhood club since being reintegrated over the summer.
Rashford is still awaiting his first goal of the campaign, but fans will be hoping it’s not far off based on his start to the term.
While Michael Carrick is said to be a fan of the 28-year-old, INEOS had actually spent the majority of the summer trying to find a buyer to take him off their hands – mainly due to the fact that he is one of the club’s highest earners on a reported £325,000-a-week.
Yet, when Barcelona opted against activating his £26 million buy option, and his £40m release clause expired without any suitors triggering it, it set in stone that Rashford would be staying put.
Rashford: The state of play
He is tied to Old Trafford until June 2028, having signed an extension back in July 2023.
It’ll be interesting to see whether United keep the Carrington graduate throughout next season as well as this one, and if he is then offered a new deal to extend his stay in M16.
Rashford’s complete senior record at United, whom he joined aged seven, stands at 138 goals and 79 assists in 426 appearances across all competitions.
