A Liverpool player and a star managed by a Celtic boss of the past have been touted.
Celtic already have two transfer targets for the January window, it’s been claimed.
The summer shopping period might just have finished but that hasn’t stopped the rumour mill from continuing to spin. Hoops boss Martin O’Neill could target a left-back in January and Liverpool man Luke Chambers may be who he looks at. Celtic eventually signed Landon Emenalo from Chelsea for the first half of the season as cover for Kieran Tierney but Chambers - who previously had time on loan at Kilmarnock - is a longer-term ambition.
29-year-old Blackburn Rovers star Ryoya Morishita meanwhile could be one they also identify. He is managed by former Celtic manager Tony Mowbray and he is viewed as an ideal attacking solution for the Hoops who have signed Japanese talent previously in Reo Hatate, Daizen Maeda and Kyogo Furuhashi most notably.
Who could Celtic sign in the January transfer window?
Nixon wrote on Patreon: “Liverpool will let left back Luke Chambers go on loan in January - with Celtic among his admirers. Chambers was kept at the Kop for cover in the summer but will be helped to find a home in the New Year. The Scottish giants are keen on Chambers as a long term project. He is out or contract at the end of the season. Celtic are planning a raid for Blackburn’s Japanese genius Ryoya Morishita.
“The Scottish champs made a very late move for Morishita in a frantic move as the clubs discussed a potential deal for Reo Hatate. Morishita has caught the eye as an attacker with the skills to open up defences and despite his age Celtic are keen on a deal. Blackburn could not sell Morishita so late - even at the prices mentioned - but that will not put off Celtic. There are still funds for a player in that role and Martin O’Neill is likely to revisit the move in.”
A 2-1 win over St Mirren was clinched by Celtic in the Premiership on Saturday thanks to Liam Scales and Yang efforts after half-time. O’Neill said: "I'm delighted that we've won the game. St Mirren played really splendidly as we thought they would do and caused us loads and loads of problems.

Martin O’Neill on St Mirren 1-2 Celtic
"We did create a number of chances. I thought that perhaps we didn't have the fluency that we've had in other games. On the break, we were very, very dangerous.
"Overall, there were some sparkling moments from us and some moments where we had a total contrast. We took the game in the end. I think for the chances we created probably deserved it but we can improve."
