**Chelsea suffered their first defeat of the Premier League season as Arsenal came from behind to claim a 2-1 victory at the Emirates Stadium.**
Morgan Rogers gave Xabi Alonso’s side a dream start after less than two minutes, but former Chelsea forward Kai Havertz equalised before the break.
Martin Ødegaard then struck early in the second half to complete Arsenal’s comeback and end Chelsea’s 100 per cent league record.
Chelsea arrived in north London without Moises Caicedo, leaving Reece James alongside Romeo Lavia in midfield.

The changes did not prevent Chelsea making another extraordinary start.
James delivered a free-kick into the Arsenal penalty area and Maxence Lacroix won the initial aerial challenge. Jorrel Hato kept the second ball alive before it dropped towards Rogers outside the area.
The summer signing swept a first-time effort beyond David Raya to put Chelsea ahead after just **two minutes**.
Arsenal responded immediately.
Emiliano Martinez was forced into action during a chaotic goalmouth scramble and required treatment after Gabriel’s boot caught him in the head.
The hosts then thought they had equalised when Riccardo Calafiori converted from close range, only for VAR to rule Ezri Konsa offside earlier in the move.
Chelsea’s reprieve did not last.
Arsenal increasingly controlled possession as the half progressed.
Havertz eventually found the breakthrough in the 25th minute, cutting inside before beating Martinez with a low left-footed effort from the edge of the penalty area.
It was a frustrating concession after Chelsea had worked hard to protect their early advantage.
The Blues almost restored their lead immediately before half-time.
Neto broke forward and drove a low shot beyond Raya, only to see the ball strike the base of the post in stoppage time.
That proved a major moment.
Arsenal emerged for the second half and needed only five minutes to take the lead.
Havertz cleverly allowed a low ball across the penalty area to run beyond him, leaving Ødegaard with the space to finish past Martinez from close range.
Alonso reacted on the hour.
Lavia and Hato were withdrawn for Malo Gusto and Pep Chavarria, with James remaining in central midfield.
Chelsea improved following the changes.
Cole Palmer began finding more room between Arsenal’s lines, while João Pedro helped create an opportunity for Acheampong before Raya raced from his goal to intervene.
Martinez was also required at the opposite end and produced an excellent save to deny Bukayo Saka as Chelsea committed more players forward.
Alonso introduced Estêvão for Neto with nine minutes remaining as Chelsea searched for an equaliser.
The Brazilian almost provided it.
Estêvão cut inside from the right in the 89th minute and sent a powerful curling effort towards the top corner, but Raya produced an outstanding fingertip save to turn it over the crossbar.
That was Chelsea’s final major opportunity.

Alonso’s side showed enough to trouble the champions, particularly through Rogers and during their late push.
However, failing to capitalise on another blistering start ultimately proved costly.
Chelsea have little time to dwell on their first defeat under Alonso.
