Liverpool is only three games into the new season, but already a design for next year’s home kit has emerged online.

The club launched its 2026/27 home kit back in May, with the new offering getting its first run-out in the final game of last season against Brentford. The strip, inspired by the iconic kit the Reds wore during their 1989/90 title-winning season, is the second offering as part of the 10-year partnership with Adidas, which started last year.

Since then, the away and third kits have both been unveiled, although Andoni Iraola’s side has only been seen in its home colors so far this season.

Liverpool has worn its iconic red kit for all three of its games so far this season against Newcastle, Nottingham Forest and Ipswich, and will do so again on Wednesday as the Champions League kicks off at home against Atletico Madrid.

But, with the season less than a month old, it seems work is already underway on next season’s kits, with an initial design having been leaked online for the 2027/28 home kit.

Footy Headlines has details of the design apparently being considered for next season, and provides pictures of what it is predicted to look like. The kit features a “subtle tonal chequered pattern” on the shirt, although it points out that the final offering from Adidas could "differ significantly."

The design is completed with “crisp white logos, applications, and trim details” across the chequered pattern, which features two shades of red.

The kit evokes memories of the 2020/21 third kit, supplied by Nike, which featured a black and gray chequered design.

Liverpool will likely unveil its new home kit before the final game of the season again, which will see the Reds face Bournemouth on May 30.

Liverpool.com says: It’s something a bit different, and we could see it proving to be a little controversial among some supporters.

It is always a little bit of a gamble straying away from just a traditional red kit, especially if two shades are being used. It could of course end up looking very different, given this is a prediction based on details of the design that have supposedly been leaked.

Ultimately, if Liverpool wins trophies in it, then it’ll become popular, as is always the case. There are certainly some kits that are looked upon more fondly now than when they initially came out.
