New York Giants Extend Key Offensive Lineman Ahead of 2026 Season 1

ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting that offensive guard Jon Runyan and the New York Giants have agreed to a two-year, $22 million contract extension ahead of Week 1. The contract is close to being fully guaranteed, as $21.5 million of the $22 million is guaranteed at signing.
Runyan is entering his third season with the New York Giants and allowed 31 total pressures with two sacks and five quarterback hits across 1,095 offensive snaps in 2025, per Pro Football Focus. He is projected to be the starting left guard for the New York Giants in 2026 to solidify the left side of the offensive line.
This is not the first contract extension that New York Giants general manager Joe Schoen has agreed to today, but locking down a quality left guard is critical for success. The two extensions could have been the result of also helping Big Blue get closer to being under the salary cap, as they are over by about $1.18 million right now.
Runyan is now under contract for the next three seasons, helping the team solidify their offensive line. The New York Giants have four of their five offensive linemen from last year returning for the 2026 season, so there is some chemistry there. Runyan played and started in 16 games last season for the team and did record a fumble recovery.
With a new coach, keeping the offensive line is a bit of a shock given that the Giants were not considered to have a top-tier offensive line last season. However, it will be intriguing to see how Jon Runyan looks in John Harbaugh’s offensive scheme.
