It has not been the best offseason for Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua. Nacua is facing a potential suspension due to allegations from an ex-girlfriend, while he is also dealing with an injury.
As the Rams get ready to open their season agaisnt the San Francisco 49ers in Australia this week, the status of Nacua is getting an update, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.
“Rams WR Puka Nacua, who has been dealing with psoas soreness and also could be facing potential discipline under the NFL’s personal conduct policy for previous off-the-field behavior, is expected to play in Week 1 vs. the 49ers, per HC Sean McVay,” Schefter posted on X, formerly Twitter.
There is a current lawsuit against Nacua. It has been alleged that Nacua bit a woman and her friend, while also making antisemitic remarks during the event. Nacua entered a rehab center himself, looking to improve his overall behavior. Meanwhile, the psoas injury is a deep core muscle that connects the lower spine to the thigh bone, helping a person walk and bend over.
Still, the biggest concern is the possible suspension. He has had multiple incidents, including live streaming in the locker room, which is against NFL policy. The NFL is still investigating Nacua and could punish him under the NFL's personal conduct policy.
Nacua has been great for the Rams when on the field. Over the past three seasons, he has played in 44 games and hauled in 313 receptions for 4,191 yards and 19 touchdowns. Last year, he brought in 129 receptions for 1,715 yards and ten scores. He also scored once on the ground.
The Rams have high hopes for the 2026 campaign, which includes winning a Super Bowl. They open the season on Thursday night against the 49ers from Melbourne, Australia.
