Liverpool transfer news: Liverpool’s interest in Michael Olise is gaining attention as speculation grows over a 2027 move for the Bayern Munich winger. Journalist Christian Falk of the BILD Group reports that Bayern could offer Olise a new contract containing a release clause, giving the Frenchman an exit route while protecting the club.
His agreement runs until June 2029, yet Bayern reportedly want stronger terms because his value has surged after an outstanding season. Falk has indicated that any clause would be high, with figures discussed around €150m, €200m or even €250m. That could help Liverpool because a fixed fee would remove a negotiating barrier, although it would hardly make the transfer cheap.
Olise gave Bayern reason to demand such money. He produced 15 Bundesliga goals and 19 assists in 2025/26 and won the division’s Player of the Season award. At the 2026 World Cup, he supplied seven assists for France, a tournament record.
There’s a strong football case for Liverpool pursuing Olise. A left-footed right winger who creates, scores and drifts inside would offer an answer after Mohamed Salah. Under Andoni Iraola, his technical quality and willingness to press could translate well, particularly in a side that want aggressive attacking transitions.
The money, though, changes the picture. Liverpool have committed about £443m across Alexander Isak, Florian Wirtz, Bradley Barcola and Hugo Ekitike, showing a willingness to spend at the top end. Yet another deal near £171m, based on a €200m figure, would demand an enormous allocation for one position. Liverpool transfer news around Olise therefore makes sense, but interest does not equal feasibility.
Real Madrid could pose the bigger sporting problem. Reports have linked Olise with Madrid, while his France connections with Kylian Mbappé and Aurélien Tchouaméni add another attraction. Spanish interest has already included speculation around a €223m bid.
That leaves Liverpool with a narrow route. Bayern want control, Olise holds major leverage, and Madrid may offer a more compelling destination. Liverpool can afford ambitious targets after their recent spending, but paying a giant release fee for Olise would still represent a gamble, especially when the squad already contains elite attacking talent. The reported clause would make the path clearer; it wouldn’t make the choice easier.
