The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for this Thursday, September 10's opener against the San Francisco 49ers in Melbourne, Australia and the passing game led by quarterback Matthew Stafford and wide receiver Davante Adams is expected to take center stage.
Adams, now 33 years old, remains one of the NFL's better receivers even when he's not at 100 percent on the football field, with one Rams insider calling him “uncoverable” during training camp. Adams is not made of adamantium, however, as evidenced by his recent injury struggles.
He was asked by reporter Nate Atkins of The Athletic about a knee issue recently and had an unforgettable reply that gave insight into where his head is entering his 13th NFL season. “I'm an old-a** man,” Adams said to Atkins, while also adding that he feels “pretty good” going into Thursday.
Adams failed to notch a 1,000-yard season for the first time in six seasons last year but made his time on the field count with 14 touchdown receptions during a Matthew Stafford MVP season with the Rams. His head coach Sean McVay said recently that Adams inspires him on every single play, adding to his status as one of the team's most valuable players heading into a year with Super Bowl hopes.
