The Dallas Cowboys are expected to have an explosive offense led by the receiver tandem of George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb (despite Lamb losing his captaincy recently), but the team isn't a finished product by any means.
Quarterback Dak Prescott is hoping additional receiving targets emerge this season from a cast of players that includes undrafted rookie free agent Camden Brown, who played college football at Georgia Southern last season after three years at Auburn.
Brown made the Cowboys' 53-man roster and has been working hard leading up to Sept. 13's road opener against the New York Giants, recently getting pointers from one of the best to ever do it — former Cowboys superstar Michael Irvin.
“A lot of it is just mental, a lot of this dude,” Irvin said to Brown in a recent one-on-one session, “And it's seeing it. We going (to) see it, I'm gonna show it to you. I got 100 years of study, and I'm gonna give it all to you bro.
“My Raider brother, we finna get you All-Pro in no time,” Irvin boasted. “I promise that.”
Brown had a career year last season in the Sun Belt with the Georgia Southern Eagles as he caught a career-high 65 passes for 1,079 yards and 14 touchdowns. Irvin clearly sees something special in Brown and sounds confident that he has higher levels to reach, perhaps even in his rookie season with a more focused and serious Prescott, Pickens, Lamb and the Cowboys.
If Dallas can find another receiver to go with the established weapons fans have come to know and love on offense, a potential record-setting year could be in the cards. Brown has an intriguing combination of SEC-level experience and Sun Belt production. Now it's up to him to make it all work seamlessly at the highest level of competition with his new team.
