Celtic are now considering a January move for Luke Chambers, with the defender set to be allowed to leave Liverpool on loan.
Chambers is a left-back by trade, which is an area in which the Hoops managed to strengthen during the summer transfer window, with Landon Emenalo arriving on loan from Chelsea.
Celtic's defensive options Age Position
Cameron Carter-Vickers 28 CB
Auston Trusty 28 CB
Liam Scales 28 CB
Dane Murray 23 CB
Kieran Tierney 29 LB
Landon Emenalo 18 LB
Alistair Johnston 27 RB
Jordan Lotomba 27 RB
Colby Donovan 20 RB
Anthony Ralston 27 RB
However, the two-cap England U19 international remains inexperienced, and is yet to make his professional debut, so it remains to be seen whether he will be able to make a major impact at Parkhead.

The Liverpool left-back, on the other hand, is already tried and tested in the EFL, making 30 appearances in League One and 18 in the Championship, while he also knows the demands of Scottish football.
Indeed, the 22-year-old spent time on loan at Kilmarnock during the 2022-23 campaign, and made 16 appearances for the Ayrshire side across all competitions.
Moreover, he received plaudits from Charlton Athletic's Jim Rodwell after signing for the Addicks on loan, with the Managing Director saying: "He is technically excellent, athletic and a progressive passer. In addition, we would like to thank Liverpool for their cooperation in allowing Luke to join us. We’re looking forward to seeing him in a Charlton shirt."
Manager Nathan Jones added: "He’s a talented, young, hungry player of real pedigree, having come through the Liverpool youth system and represented their first team, so I’m looking forward to working with him."

Writing on Patreon (via Glasgow World), Alan Nixon has confirmed Liverpool are now prepared to let Chambers leave on loan during the January transfer window, with Celtic still keen on securing his signature.
Nixon said: "Liverpool will let left back Luke Chambers go on loan in January - with Celtic among his admirers. Chambers was kept at the Kop for cover in the summer but will be helped to find a home in the New Year. The Scottish giants are keen on Chambers as a long-term project. He is out of contract at the end of the season."
The Preston-born defender's experience in England and Scotland means he could be a solid signing for the Hoops, but they are doubts over whether he would be a worthwhile addition to Martin O'Neill's squad.
That is because O'Neill is a big fan of new left-back signing Emenalo, saying: “Landon is a very good player we have followed for some time, he will give us some real quality.
“He has many attributes which I think can benefit us, he is very quick and athletic but also very composed on the ball and while he can defend he certainly gets up the pitch into attacking positions too.
