1. Gianluigi Savior Donnarumma
Despite scaring the entire Etihad Stadium with a sloppy control in the first few minutes, Donnarumma entered his prime form to deny Coventry three clear chances. He also seems more confident in playing long balls.
The Italian saved two inside the penalty box - one in each half - and one curled low driven effort from close range to prove why he is the number 1 at Manchester City. His shot-stopping abilities were the real reason why the Blues did not concede any goals today.
Since the Community Shield, when he had a poor display against Arsenal, Donnarumma was impressive against Bournemouth and Crystal Palace - despite conceding an unlucky and unfortunate own goal. As he racks up his first clean sheet of the season, the 27-year-old's form might be necessary to keep winning games.

2. The Anderson imposition

3. Don’t push your luck
City struggled in the closing stages of Saturday's triumph, as the scoreline showed an advantage of a single goal. The Blues made things complicated, since they could not finish some big chances to kill the game early on.
In the first half, Enzo Maresca’s men wasted too many chances. As for the second part, the Blues simply couldn’t offer Rushworth’s net any danger. In the end, hadn’t it been for Donnarumma, the three points wouldn’t have come.

4. Debutants Enzo and Iliman
Iliman Ndiaye and Fernandez started their first match in sky blue, as they joined the club on deadline day from Chelsea and Everton, respectively. They came in ready to feature and did so against Coventry.
Fernandez was confident on the ball and had an important role, as he created the pre-assist for the only goal of the match with a stunning through ball to Semenyo on the right wing. His choices were spot on and he already shows why he was a man of Maresca’s trust at Chelsea and will be now at the Etihad Stadium.
As for Ndiaye, the Senegalese winger seemed a little bit disconnected from his teammates. It is fair to say that the gameplans at Everton and Manchester City are completely different, and that appeared to be a factor during his decision making in this game. Even though he did not have an impressive first one, he showed potential with his skills on the ball.

5. Cherki’s presence
Arguably Manchester City’s best player so far in the season, Cherki had yet another outstanding display. Although he did not score or assist, this looked like his best game so far in terms of contributing to the play and controlling the tempo.
Cherki’s dribbling was spectacular - the best example to portray this was when he fooled three defenders at once with a fake shot, only to unfortunately hit the post straight after. His passing was sharp and the intelligence on point.
After he was brought off, the squad clearly looked off and lacked attacking creativity. As of now, the number 10 is indispensable for Enzo Maresca and Manchester City, as he is decisive and only keeps improving match after match.
