Los Angeles Lakers offseason acquisition Sandro Mamukelashvili gave an honest review of the Lakers' preseason camp organized by Luka Doncic in Slovenia this summer.
In an interview with Deondre Hawkins of ESPN, Mamukelashvili thanked Luka for a well-organized camp, saying it was a great way to gel with his new teammates and that they managed to see and do a lot during their time together.
"First of all, shoutout to Luka. I think the organization was amazing, the way they planned everything," Mamukelashvili said. "They showed us a lot of great places, and Ljubljana is a really, really nice city."
"Plus, it was great for the new team. It was a bunch of new guys on the team, and you know, all of us being together, it didn't even feel like it was a lot of new guys," he added.
Mamukelashvili arrives after solid season in Toronto
Sandro Mamukelashvili inked a lucrative four-year, $52 million contract to join the Los Angeles Lakers as an unrestricted free agent.
The Georgian big man enjoyed a breakout campaign in 2025-26 as a member of the Toronto Raptors.
Putting up career-high averages of 11.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 1.9 assists in 80 games, he helped Toronto secure 46 wins and come just one win away from reaching the Conference Semifinals.
His shooting was also tremendous, shooting 52.3% from the field and a sharp 38.9% from three-point range to add to his do-it-all standing as an elite big man.
Doncic hosted Lakers in Slovenia
Last month, Luka hosted almost the entire Lakers roster for a private offseason minicamp in Slovenia.
The gathering was designed to combine basketball work with team bonding before Los Angeles begins official preparations for the 2026-27 NBA season.
Besides on-court training sessions, Doncic also organized several activities away from the court. The Lakers' itinerary included a visit to Bled, fishing, golf, meals at some of Luka's favorite places, and other activities intended to help the new-look roster build chemistry.
Doncic reportedly arranged a chartered flight for a large group of Lakers players and prepared Slovenian-themed gifts for his teammates as part of the trip.
