Liverpool have a long-standing interest in Michael Olise, who Bayern Munich cannot guarantee will still be at the club after next summer’s transfer window.
Olise was name-checked as a potential option for Liverpool after Mohamed Salah announced he would leave the club a year before his contract ended.
A move from the Merseysiders was then deemed “completely unrealistic,” with the Frenchman to command a fee in excess of the record £125 million Liverpool paid for Alexander Isak.
Both Bayern’s sporting director, Max Eberl, and CEO, Jan-Christian Dreesen, sought to put a line through any suggestion Olise could move on in the summer, but that tone has now shifted.
Speaking to German broadcaster Sport1 over the weekend, via BuliNews, Dreesen could not guarantee the winger would be at the German club after next summer.
“Making promises in this business is a tricky matter. Whether we can keep him permanently is something we will discuss again in the summer,” he said.
Olise’s contract with the Bavarian side expires in 2029, and Bayern maintain that they did not receive any offers for the 24-year-old this summer.
Liverpool have been linked to Olise since he was a 19-year-old at Reading, though he will demand significantly more than his £8 million release clause in 2021.

Liverpool did not sign a new specialist right winger in the summer despite knowing Salah was leaving prior to his March announcement, with the left wing instead receiving the attention.
Yan Diomande was pursued but ultimately signed for Real Madrid, while Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr were subjects of late interest, which saw the Reds rebuffed.
Olise, however, would be the premium option next summer as an experienced international who can cut onto his left from the right wing and both score and assist, much like Salah.
He finished last season with the most assists of any Bundesliga player (19), and second to Harry Kane for the most goal involvements (34).
FotMob, meanwhile, ranked the 24-year-old as statistically the second-best player (8.09-out-of-10) in the German top flight.
Olise created the most big chances (27) and, notably for Andoni Iraola, won possession in the final third 1.1 times per 90, the third-most of any Bundesliga player.
He can be signed as a homegrown player, a valuable trait for Liverpool, following his development at Reading and Palace, though he will not be cheap.
If Liverpool chose not to settle for a short-term fix on the right wing this summer, holding out for Olise in 2027 could prove worth the wait if they are willing to pay the premium Bayern will demand.
