Liverpool loanee Harvey Elliott made his debut for Valencia over the weekend, but it wasn't the dream start to life with his new club that he would have envisioned before joining them.
The 23-year-old made the late move to the Spanish side in the summer transfer window, making a season-long loan move there without an option to buy. Considering the difficult year he had with Aston Villa last time out, it's a switch that the attacking midfielder will hope brings about plenty more minutes, and an opportunity to recapture the best form of his career.
It remains to be seen whether that will happen, but if Elliott was hoping to enter a club that is settled and can integrate him in slowly, then joining Valencia may not be the move that he envisioned.
The Liverpool loanee was thrown on for his debut after the hour mark in Valencia's clash with Barcelona, with his team already 3-0 down and struggling to lay a glove on the opposition.
A further two goals followed for the visitors, with a 5-0 thrashing coming as another huge blow for the home side, who felt the full fury of the supporters when the side was booed off after the final whistle.
Protests broke out at the Mestalla after the game, as fans chanted against the board, the owner Peter Lim, the players, and the manager, Carlos Corberan.

It follows years of frustration under the ownership, which has boiled over in the wake of a slow start to the season. Valencia sits at the bottom of La Liga after four games, picking up just one point so far.
It's hardly an ideal situation for Elliott to be parachuted into, with the Liverpool star looking to get back to his best with an arm around his shoulder following a tough year.
There is still an opportunity for him to shine at Valencia, but patience already seems to be low among the fanbase after years of underperformance from their team on the pitch.
There are some tough clashes coming up, with Elliott's new side taking on Sevilla next up in the league, before facing off with Alaves and Real Sociedad ahead of the international break late this month.
While the midfield star is looking to build up fitness, he may need to hit the ground running and show exactly why he has been so highly rated, even with his more recent struggles.
It remains to be seen whether he can do just that, but it could be crucial to the rest of his season, as well as Valencia's, with the team struggling in the early weeks of the campaign.
