However, Opta has predicted that this season is when Arsenal's wait for a major European trophy will end.

Their supercomputer has given the Gunners a 21.2 per cent chance of winning the Champions League.
Mikel Arteta's side established themselves as a dominant force in European action last term as they became the first team to win all eight fixtures during the league phase of the competition.
However, that will be difficult to replicate as the Gunners lost attacking trio Gabriel Martinelli, Gabriel Jesus and Leandro Trossard in the summer.
Christos Tzolis, a left-winger, was the only addition to Arsenal's attacking stocks, meaning Arteta will have to get crafty with his selections if he is to keep his squad fresh and compete on multiple fronts.
Of course, Arsenal can replenish their squad in the January window to give themselves a much-needed boost in their quest for a maiden Champions League crown.

"Let's see what they do in Europe," Jordan said on Monday's edition of White and Jordan.
"They have a chance to win the Premier League. A lot of other teams are in flux. They might have gone and spent money like you've never seen, but they're still in flux. There are still teams changing from legacy managers to change directions at other football clubs that are trying to reboot themselves, so that gives Arsenal a head start in retaining the Premier League.

"But when we start talking about a football club that's dominant, at the top of its game and really owning its space, let them do it in Europe too, because PSG do it."
However, former Arsenal Premier League title winner Emmanuel Petit felt Arteta leading the Gunners to string together consecutive domestic crowns should not be overlooked.
"From what I've seen in the last few weeks, I think the confidence and quality, they (Arsenal) have," Petit said on White and Jordan.
"I think Arsenal, if they can go back-to-back in the Premier League, that would be a huge achievement.
"Champions League is really important, but I think they are among the teams this season that can win it."

As for the other contenders, Opta has tipped Bayern Munich as Arsenal's biggest threat for the title, with the Germans given a 19.9 per cent chance of winning.

Should Opta's predictions ring true, fans could be treated to a preview of what's to come when Bayern host Arsenal in a league phase fixture on October 21.
With Arsenal and Bayern cemented as the two favourites, attention turns to who is the third-leading contender.
According to Opta's supercomputer, that would be Manchester City, who have a 12 per cent chance of winning.
It would be an almighty feat for City, who won the Champions League for the first time in the 2022/23 campaign.
However, in the seasons that have followed since, City have only gone as far as the quarter-final, and that stage has been reached just once, meaning new boss Enzo Maresca has his work cut out for him in continental action.
Surprisingly, defending champions PSG are fourth favourites with a 7.7. per cent chance.
The Parisians are gunning for a hat-trick of Champions League titles, something which has only been accomplished by Real Madrid (15/16, 16/17, 17/18).
