Eric Garcia was back in training on Monday at Barcelona and back in a mask after being substituted during Sunday’s win over Valencia.

The Spain star took a nasty whack in the face from team-mate Rodri and went off in the first half. It was an unfortunate collision and one that came just months after Garcia suffered a broken nose last season.

However, Garcia was back in training on Monday, wearing a mask again, and is expected to make a swift return to first-team action.

Eric will miss the midweek Champions League game against Feyenoord due to suspension but is expected to be available for Barcelona’s next La Liga game on Sunday against Levante.

Garcia’s absence means that Hansi Flick will make changes to his backline for the visit of the Eredivisie side on Wednesday night.

Joao Cancelo, Jules Kounde and Andreas Christensen are all options for the German boss, with all three players keen to get the nod for the first Champions League game of the new campaign.
