Liverpool made the trip to Portman Road on Friday evening and left with all three points, beating Ipswich Town 2-0.
The visitors wasted little time asserting themselves. Alexander Isak opened the scoring after six minutes and doubled Liverpool’s lead three minutes later.

Both goals carried the same source. Cody Gakpo teed up the opener with a neat through-ball and set up the second with an inch-perfect pass off the outside of his boot.
The win was Liverpool’s first Premier League victory under new head coach Andoni Iraola. Isak’s brace took his tally to three goals in three games this season, with Gakpo now responsible for the assist on all three.
Now, according to the Premier League’s official website, that display has earned recognition beyond Anfield.
Both Alexander Isak and Cody Gakpo have been nominated for the Premier League Player of the Matchweek award, covering Matchweek 3 of the season.
The Liverpool pair are named on a six-player shortlist. Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma is also included, after three saves inside his own six-yard box earned City a 1-0 win over Coventry City and his first clean sheet of the season.
Everton’s Tyrique George makes the list too, having scored the equaliser in a 2-2 draw with Manchester United while creating three chances and completing four dribbles, both match-leading numbers.
Crystal Palace’s Tyrick Mitchell is nominated after scoring twice for the first time in his career, helping his side beat Fulham 2-3 at Craven Cottage.
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard completes the shortlist, having scored the winner in a 2-1 comeback victory over Chelsea.
The winner will be decided by a public vote on premierleague.com, with voting open until 12:00 BST on Tuesday, 9 September 2026.
