Everton's Super Eagles-eligible forward nominated for PL Player of the Matchweek
Super Eagles-eligible forward Tyrique George has been nominated for the official Premier League Player of the Matchweek award following his outstanding performance for Everton in an entertaining 2-2 draw against Manchester United.
After Bryan Mbeumo opened the scoring for Manchester United, George levelled with an unstoppable finish into the top-right corner following Hayden Hackney's pass in the 83rd minute.
It was George's first goal in Everton colours in what was his 15th appearance in all competitions.
The England U21 international, who is of Nigerian and Ghanaian descent, was a constant threat to Manchester United, leading the match in chances created (three) and successful dribbles (four).
In his bid to be crowned the Player of the Matchweek for Gameweek 3, George faces competition from five other Premier League players.
Also shortlisted for the award are Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City), Cody Gakpo (Liverpool), Alexander Isak (Liverpool), Tyrick Mitchell (Crystal Palace) and Martin Odegaard (Arsenal).
George has carved out a reputation for scoring spectacular goals and was nominated for several Goal of the Month awards during his time at Chelsea.
