The sports world is still trying to wrap their heads around the bizarre case of Daejon Love, the man who posed as a fake NFL player and reportedly scammed multiple women out of over $1 million total. His scheme could possibly have led to similar copycat scams, as what seems to be the case involving a Georgia man claiming to be a professional basketball player to fool hotel staff and make off with a car carrying a hefty price tag, as per TMZ.
In this latest case, harkening callbacks to fake NFL player Daejon Love, the man purporting to be a professional basketball player reportedly fooled staff at a Hyatt Regency in Savannah, Georgia into handing over the keys to a BMW worth $90,000. He claimed to be staying at the hotel with multiple cars parked on site.

The catch? The BMW did not actually belong to anyone specific, it was on loan from a local dealership by one of the hotel’s guests. But that isn’t where the story ends. The same man reportedly arrived in another car that was reported stolen, an Audi, and it’s possible he was also involved in a third reported hotel car theft.
While the man is still on the loose, it’s interesting to note how many other potential Daejon Love’s are out there. The man at the center of that crime has been arrested and charged with wire fraud and conspiracy to commit wire fraud. He posed as an NFL player for the San Francisco 49ers complete with fake Google listings and videos of himself purportedly participating in offseason workouts.
