The Los Angeles Lakers overhauled their roster this offseason, bringing in 11 new players including their two-way spots, in an effort to get younger and more athletic. However, in doing so, the Lakers also became more inexperienced when it comes to the playoffs. In fact, that’s the one pressing concern that former Lakers champion Danny Green has about this new look team, as per Matthew Valento of Lakers Nation.
Danny Green did make it clear that he is a fan of the roster moves the Lakers made, but he is not quite sold on how well the team will perform when it comes to the postseason.
“And I liked a lot of the pieces they picked up. I know they’re young, so not super experienced. I think they’re going to be a pretty good regular season team,” Green said. “Playoffs, I don’t know because of the youth and experience, but I like the moves they made, I like the pieces they have. They have more depth, they got younger and faster. They can get out and run a little more.”

Gone from the team is last season’s starting lineup for the Lakers’ opening round playoff series against the Houston Rockets. Four of them left via free agency with LeBron James going to the Philadelphia 76ers, Marcus Smart to the Houston Rockets, Luke Kennard to the Phoenix Suns and Rui Hachimura to the LA Clippers. Deandre Ayton was traded to the Washington Wizards.
The Lakers added multiple players during the first few days of free agency who are expected to be major rotation pieces in Walker Kessler, Collin Sexton, Sandro Mamukelashvili and Quentin Grimes. They signed a few more potential impact players in Kevon Looney, Ziaire Williams and Matisse Thybulle, traded for Jaden Hardy, added Arthur Kaluma and AK Okereke on two-way contracts, and drafted Cameron Carr.
