NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - Titans starting linebacker Cedric Gray is in the NFL’s concussion protocol following a UTV (utility terrain vehicle) accident over the weekend.

The 23-year-old was the Titans’ leading tackler last season and is entering his 3rd year in the league.

Gray also suffered minor injuries, according to the team.

“We look forward to Cedric returning to the field soon and in full health when he clears the NFL’s concussion protocol,” a Titans’ statement reads.

The Titans open the season on Sunday at noon against the New York Jets at Nissan Stadium.

Gray’s potential absence could pave the way for rookie Anthony Hill Jr. to get a larger role in the defense in Week 1.
