Chelsea Injury News And Return Dates: Updates On Moises Caicedo & 2 Others
Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has admitted that Moises Caicedo came back too early from injury against Brighton.
The Ecuadorian lasted just 14 minutes before being forced off the pitch, and he was missing from the matchday squad for the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal as a result. Alonso had expressed hope that Caicedo could be available for the trip to the Emirates, with the midfielder set to undergo a late fitness test, but speaking on Sunday, he said that they decided against taking another risk:
“Not longer term, but we talk about assessing the risk. Probably last week [against Brighton], we took him too early, and I don’t want to make the same mistake.”
It’s unlikely that Caicedo will face Leeds in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday, but there’s a chance that he could make his comeback this weekend.

Alonso has said that the 36-year-old is “getting closer and closer” to making his return from a wrist injury.
Henderson has not made an appearance for the Blues since his free transfer from Brentford in the summer.
The midfielder picked up the injury in a freak accident when he fell over an advertising hoarding after England’s 3-2 win over Mexico.
Henderson needed surgery, and he has now been on the sidelines for the best part of two months.

The Italian international has spoken out to say he is just “days” away from returning to full fitness.
Palestra impressed in pre-season, but he has not played in any of Chelsea’s first four fixtures since the new campaign kicked off last month.
The club have not specified what type of injury Palestra has sustained, nor have they given an estimate for how long he could be sidelined for.
However, Palestra himself seems confident that he will be back in contention sooner rather than later.
