New Liverpool signing Lucca Brughmans has spoken for the first time about his transfer, with the 18-year-old showing maturity beyond his years after after securing a 'dream' move

Lucca Brughmans remained humble as he spoke for the first time about “living in a dream” after signing for Liverpool.
The 18-year-old goalkeeper was a late addition for the Reds on deadline day last week, completing a transfer that could be worth up to $41 million (£30M). Having traveled to Merseyside to complete the deal and undergo his medical, Brughmans is now back in Belgium, having been loaned back to his original club Genk for the season.
Brughmans has also been the subject of interest from lots of other clubs across Europe, including Real Madrid, underlining just how highly rated the teenager is.
He was back in action for Genk on Saturday, and kept a clean sheet as he helped his side claim a point at Anderlecht.
Speaking to reporters after the game, Brughmans detailed his experience of signing for Liverpool, with the youngster showing a maturity beyond his years.
“I remained very level-headed about it,” Brughmans said (as per Belgian outlet Het Laatste Nieuws).
“We had a free weekend and after that I lived in a dream for three days. Due to lack of time, I was only able to visit the training complex.

“Yes, it was hectic, but I switched gears on Monday. I flew back to Belgium and immediately joined training. Back to reality quickly, I am glad it worked out this way.”
Brughmans was also asked about his price tag, with the amount Liverpool could end up paying raising some eyebrows among the club’s supporters - not that he has taken much notice.
“That is something I have no idea about,” he shrugged. “That is not my job, so I leave that to the professionals.

“But it is a different world. Luckily, I have people around me who are there to keep my feet on the ground.
“My family is everything. We are very close as a family. Of course, we were all together in Liverpool, and my little brother Beau was here tonight too. We try to attend as many of each other’s matches as possible.”
Brughmans will continue as Genk’s new No.1 this season - with the club’s manager promising Liverpool he will protect its new signing - before he links up with the Reds next summer.

By that time of course, Alisson Becker may have moved on, with the Brazilian now in the final year of his contract, while Giorgi Mamardashvili has also been linked with a move away. Brughmans though is giving nothing away about what awaits him.
“Of course, I can't fully reveal Liverpool's plan for me here,” he said while laughing. “The intention is, however, to become their first-choice goalkeeper in the long term.
“I'm going to do everything I can to achieve that. I still need to take steps, and I'm happy that I can do that at Genk.”
