Enzo Maresca is hoping that Manchester City can hit more right notes this season after introducing music into their training sessions. The players worked on Monday with dance tracks in the background as they look to continue their excellent start to the season.

The Blues have three wins from three ahead of tough trips to Porto and Old Trafford this week as Maresca aims to move the club on from the Pep Guardiola era. One of the subtle changes that the manager is hoping can have a big difference has been to give more energy into training for players - even if it risks them falling out over who gets to pick the music.

"It's something that I had in Leicester and in Chelsea and I introduce here," he said. "I think the players are more happy with the music and can work better. The players decide. It's just to create more environment for them."

City are at the early stages of their development under Maresca but have spent more than £400m in the transfer window and know they are expected to get results immediately. These next two games will be a big test for how Maresca's start is judged at the club.

However, several players are still working their way back to fitness. Star striker Erling Haaland voiced concerns this week that he has not had enough rest after the World Cup, and he is not the only player like that in the squad.

"It's not easy for them. It's not easy for Erling or for most of the players that continue to play for club and international team," said Maresca. "I think it is correct in the moment that you see these kind of players that they start to be tired. It's correct to give them some rest.

"It can be one game out or one week away. It depends on which moment we are in but the priority is to allow the players to be good and happy and in the moment you see them tired the risk is there can be an injury and we need players 100 per cent."
