Liverpool do not need to continue their search for a replacement for Mohamed Salah, because they have already got their man in the shape of France winger Bradley Barcola.

That's according to former England international Teddy Sheringham, who, like Barcola, has tasted the ultimate triumph of victory in the Champions League and has described the former Paris Saint-Germain star as 'the full package'.

The Reds bid farewell to club legend Salah at the end of last season after the Egyptian brought his hugely successful nine-year stint on Merseyside to a close.

The Kop legend has since gone on to join Turkish outfit Trabzonspor, for whom he has made a flying start with four goals in his first six matches.

Liverpool failed to sign a natural right-sided winger during the summer transfer window, after attempts to bring Yan Diomande and Yankuba Minteh to Anfield failed to materialise.

But on the opposite flank, Barcola was eventually secured just 24 hours before the transfer deadline for a fee worth up to £123m. And ex-Tottenham star Sheringham believes that the 23-year-old is the natural heir to Salah's throne.

Speaking to BetVictor Online Casino, Sheringham said: "It’s an unbelievable deal for Liverpool to go out and get Bradley Barcola, it’s a huge signing.

"I think he’s got great ability and a high work rate as well, he’s a top player. If you want someone to replace a superstar like Mohamed Salah has been for Liverpool, you’re looking for the full package, and I think he provides that.

"He’s got great technical ability, can score goals, create chances, and works hard for the team too. He can change their fortunes around, he really can."

Barcola made his first appearance for Liverpool on Friday evening, coming off the bench in the second half of the Reds' 2-0 Premier League victory against Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The French star made 152 appearances for PSG, scoring 39 goals, winning three Ligue 1 titles and two Champions Leagues during his time in the French capital.
