Former NBA champion Stephen Jackson isn’t holding back his thoughts on the Golden State Warriors’ current championship window. On a recent episode of the All The Smoke podcast, Jackson gave a blunt assessment when asked if the current roster in Golden State could contend for a title, offering a sharp “nah” before pitching a massive trade destination for superstar guard Stephen Curry.
Jackson believes the Golden State Warriors should look to pivot toward the future and send the four-time NBA champion to the San Antonio Spurs.
“San Antonio for me,” Jackson said on the podcast. “You got De'Aaron Fox, they can package one of those, and I ain't even talking about Harper, or Castle, they got 2 big draft picks this year, so they did well in the draft. So they got the pieces to move for a Steph with De'Aaron Fox, I think that would be great.”

The idea of pairing Curry’s legendary perimeter shooting with San Antonio’s generational big man, Victor Wembanyama, would instantly shift the landscape of the Western Conference. With young core pieces like Stephon Castle and Dylan Harper already establishing themselves in San Antonio, the Spurs possess plenty of asset flexibility to construct a competitive offer if Golden State ever considers making their franchise icon available.
For the Warriors, Curry remains the heart and soul of the franchise, but continuous roster reshuffling has left the squad struggling to keep pace in a loaded West. Acquiring a dynamic point guard in Fox along with draft compensation would allow Golden State to execute a soft rebuild while remaining competitive.
While a blockbuster deal of this magnitude remains a theoretical scenario, Jackson's proposal highlights growing speculation surrounding Curry's final chapter in the NBA. Whether the Spurs front office executives ever make that call remains to be seen, but the thought of Curry feeding passes to Wembanyama is enough to catch the entire league's attention.
