**Man Utd legend Rio Ferdinand thinks manager Michael Carrick should be selecting either Leny Yoro or Ayden Heaven in the middle of defence every week.**
Carrick has favoured a centre-back partnership of Harry Maguire and Lisandro Martinez over the past 2 games, but Ferdinand believes his former team should “always” be starting one of the two young defenders due to the pace they possess:
“We bought Yoro. We bought Heaven. Yoro, I thought he would be a bit further ahead than he is now; he’s taken a little bit longer to push up that ceiling and fulfil that potential. I think it’s still going to come, but I think it’s been slower than anticipated, 100 percent.”
“Heaven, I think he could play now, but the manager’s making a choice and decision, and he wants to go with what he’s got, but I would always have one of those two in the backline just for pace at this level, 100 percent.”
Carrick has doubts about Yoro

The Frenchman has not started a game for the Red Devils since the 2-1 defeat to Leeds at home back in April. Carrick’s team then went unbeaten in their last six matches of the season – winning five and drawing one.
Yoro didn’t even make it off the bench on the opening day last month, before coming on as a substitute against both Ipswich Town and [**Everton**](https://manunews.com/blog/man-utd-player-ratings-everton-3/).
Recent evidence suggests that Carrick simply doesn’t rate the 20-year-old, with Heaven even starting ahead of him against Hull.

Both of the goals conceded at the weekend were the result of mistakes from other players. Luke Shaw was too narrow before Tyrique George unleashed a powerful shot. Some will also argue that Senne Lammens should have saved it.
The second equaliser in injury time came after a poor clearance from Noussair Mazraoui, so Maguire and Martinez had very little to do with the goals conceded on the day.
