City begin their European campaign in Portugal, following a perfect start to the 2026-27 Premier League season, with three wins in as many fixtures, ahead of this weekend's visit to Manchester United.
Manchester City brought in Elliot Anderson, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Iliman Ndiaye, Enzo Fernandez, Geronimo Rulli and Allan Elias across the summer, with Fernandez completing a British record-equalling £125 million move from Chelsea in the final hours of deadline day.
Having struggled with an ankle issue in the opening weeks of the season, Nunes, 28, is back to full fitness and is set to start in his country for City's first UEFA Champions League league phase fixture.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference on Monday evening, Nunes lauded the work done by officials at the Etihad Stadium to overhaul the first-team squad this summer.
The right-back said: "I think it's incredible, the players that they brought in are so good, the best players in the teams they were playing for! We are very happy to have them."
On the turnover of personnel across the summer, he added: "It is the way it is, we just have to get used to it. New players sometimes go, sometimes come in, so we have to help them settle and pass the DNA and identity of the club, and they are very happy to be here, and it's part of the process."
Nunes: We Were Very Happy When Fernandez Joined!
Fernandez made his full debut in Saturday's 1-0 win over Coventry City after Nico O'Reilly was forced off in the warm-up, and he linked well with Rayan Cherki before grabbing the pre-assist for Erling Haaland's header.
On Manchester City's record signing, Nunes added: "We didn't know if it was going to happen or not. We want to have the best players and Enzo is one of them!
"And when we found out that he was signing, we were very happy because we want to be with the best players, not that we didn't have already but if a new player comes in he's going to add a lot of good things.
"We knew we had a good squad, but then after, Ndiaye as well, they did an amazing job with the transfer window this season! All of them are going to help us a lot this season."

Ndiaye started on the left wing against Coventry and received constructive feedback from Enzo Maresca on his positioning, though the City manager was positive on the whole about the Senegal international's debut.
City lost a host of senior first-team stars in the summer window, including Rodri, Bernardo Silva, John Stones and Nathan Ake, and the scale of the rebuild required was significant.
The fact that Fernandez, Ndiaye and Bouaddi all featured against Coventry on Saturday, with Bouaddi and Ryan McAidoo both coming off the bench to catch the eye, is an early sign of how quickly Maresca has integrated the new arrivals into competitive football.
Maresca has hinted at resting Haaland for the trip to Portugal, with the Norwegian having featured in every minute of City's Premier League campaign so far.
