Liverpool have tied talented young midfielder Haydn Murray-Holme to a new long-term contract, with the 17-year-old signing his first professional deal.
Murray-Holme turned 17 just under a year ago and This Is Anfield understands negotiations over a professional contract with Liverpool proved lengthy.
But an agreement has now been struck, with the midfielder committing his future to Merseyside in what is expected to be an initial three-year deal.
Liverpool confirmed Murray-Holme’s contract on Tuesday morning, with the teenager having begun the new campaign as captain of the U18s.
As a tempo-setting, deep-lying midfielder, the Wirral-born youngster has gained admirers with his eye for a pass and tenacity in the engine room.

“I joined the pre-academy when I was just six. I was scouted and I’ve been here ever since, becoming a scholar when I was 16,” he told the club’s official website.
“I’m buzzing, I’ve been here since I was really young, so I’m delighted to sign here.
“I think I’m a creative player, a good passer who can work in tight areas and like to create chances. I like to express myself on the pitch.”
Murray-Holme is expected to be part of the Liverpool U19s squad for this season’s UEFA Youth League, while he already has experience with the U21s in friendlies.

But he is looking to step up to Rob Page’s side on a more permanent basis this campaign, saying: “I’d like to try to break into the U21s, play in the UEFA Youth League and continue to play well, express myself on the pitch and enjoy it.
“I got a good few chances in the Youth league last year and I loved it, so I just want more of that.”
Liverpool’s latest new contract follows similar for the likes of Oliver O’Connor, Prince Cisse and Lucas Clarke earlier in the summer.
There had been interest in signing Murray-Holme’s cousin, Joshua Holme, from Shamrock Rovers but the young forward is now understood to have joined Chelsea.
