Nick Bosa is working his way back from a season-ending knee injury, and defensive coordinator Raheem Morris confirmed the one-time All-Pro will suit up for the team’s Week 1 contest against the Los Angeles Rams. Selected in the first round of the 2019 NFL Draft, the Ohio State product has been one of the game’s most productive players when on the field. Appearing in 16 games as a rookie, Bosa finished his inaugural campaign with nine sacks, 47 tackles, 16 tackles-for-loss, and 25 quarterback hits while making the Pro Bowl.
While injuries limited him to just two games in 2020, he quickly proved that his breakout rookie campaign wasn’t a fluke. Nick Bosa recorded double-digit sacks in each of the next three seasons, including a league-leading 18.5 in 2022, and made the Pro Bowl in all five of his healthy seasons. Unfortunately, he tore his ACL and only played three games in 2025. While he spent the offseason working his way back to health, nobody knew for sure if he’d play in the team’s season-opening contest against the Los Angeles Rams.
Fortunately, defensive coordinator Raheem Morris answered that question with no gray area. In a recent interview, Morris confirmed the star pass rusher will suit up for Week 1.
“He’s going,” Morris said. “We aren’t hiding that.”

Nick Bosa Will Play In Week 1 Against Los Angeles Rams
It’s hard to overstate just how important this is for the San Francisco 49ers. Nick Bosa is one of the best defensive players in the game, and his ability to get after the quarterback could be the difference in this battle against divisional foes. The 49ers and Rams have two of the best rosters in football, and there’s a very real chance that the outcome of this game plays a significant role in playoff seeding. There’s no such thing as a “must-win” contest in Week 1, but the stakes are high for this one.
Of course, only time will tell how much Nick Bosa actually plays, and how good he looks while on the field. At his best, the pass-rusher is a top-five player at his position, but he’ll probably need some time to recapture his old form. No matter what though, the 49ers will be better off having him on the field.
