Jurrien Timber joined Arsenal training on Tuesday morning, but there was no sign of Cristhian Mosquera ahead of Wednesday’s clash with Napoli in the Champions League.
The Gunners squad were on show at the club’s Sobha Realty training base for an open session before flying out to Naples later in the day.
Timber, who has not played a minute so far this season, continues to step up his recovery from the minor groin surgery he had over the summer.
The Dutchman picked up the injury in mid-March and his only appearance since then was his cameo off the bench against Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League final.
However, the 25-year-old is now nearing a return. He has stepped up his workload over the last couple of weeks and he has been back in first-team training.
Timber did not make the squad for the win over Chelsea but he is pushing to feature in some capacity against Napoli in Arsenal's opening Champions League match.
He trained on Tuesday morning and a decision will now be made on whether he is fit enough to travel with the squad later in the day.
While Timber's availability would be a big boost, Arsenal are set to be without Cristhian Mosquera in Italy.

He suffered a muscle injury against Aston Villa and that ruled him out of facing Chelsea over the weekend.
Mikel Arteta said after the match that Mosquera's issue was "not too much" but it kept him out of training again on Tuesday.
That would suggest it is extremely unlikely Mosquera will recover in time to be in contention for the clash with Napoli.
Ezri Konsa would therefore be set to start at centre-back alongside Gabriel, while Ben White can be expected to start at right-back with Arsenal surely intending to be cautious with Timber's return to action.
